About us

Rachita and Deepak run this blog.

This blog is about Equity investing and personal finance focusing mostly on India.

We both have banking and financial services background with a combined experience of over 2 decades. Not that we know how to value banks still.

The name Peepal was an inspiration from our trip to the Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya in 2016. The Bodhi tree is a Peepal tree (a Fig tree) which reminds us to stay calm and composed in this investing project of ours.

Investing Methods:
We appreciate all investment philosophies and try to learn from each of them. The businesses which we like are mostly growth oriented with good returns on capital. The key to becoming a good investor is the ability to say 'I do not know' and keeping an open mind.

Importantly we believe in math and probability.

We are inspired by Ed Thorp, Warren Buffett, Peter Lynch and Charlie Munger. We also like Seykota & Taleb's (be it original or derived) ideas.

We do value the smile of Lady Luck.

And finally in the world of investing there is only one eternal truth ignoramus et ignorabimus - we do not know and we will not know.
